Homeopathy: an approach to the subject in the process of diseasing

This study analyses the therapeutic process of Homeopathic Medicine. It highlights the relevance of its components in the construction of a space of interaction between doctors and patients, able to provide new meaning to the understanding of the nature of diseasing and the perspective of cure. The central position the individual occupies in the homeopathic paradigm by privileging the process of diseasing confers specific characteristics to this approach, capable of restoring the care dimension to the therapeutic action. The empirical bases for the present study were two health units in the city of Sao Paulo. Eleven doctors and 13 patients were interviewed and spontaneous statements that emerged during clinical consultations conducted by the author were recorded. The material obtained was submitted to a qualitative analysis that led to the identification of certain "nuclei of meaning" such as: subject, person, hearing, looking, link, time, cure, medication, reflecting the essential dimensions that translate the specificity of the homeopathic therapeutic process. The narratives of the subjects of the homeopathic practice showed clearly that the construction of a space of intersubjectivity, where patients and doctors share the experience of getting ill, allows introducing the perspective of care and the possibility of a project for recovering health.
