A emancipação da mulher e a presença das ciências e da matemática no periódico O Quinze de Novembro do Sexo Feminino

ABSTRACT

There were several movements in favor of the emancipation of women in our society, one of which is the advance of the female press, which emerged in the 17th century, but which spread mainly in the 19th century. The present study presents an analysis of the scientific and mathematical texts published in the journal O Quinze de Novembro do Sexo Feminino: periódico quinzenal, litterario, recreativo e noticioso especialmente dedicado aos interesses da mulher published between 1889 and 1890 by Francisca Senhorinha da Motta Diniz. Although this research points out that the theme is episodic, it shows that this publication can be a way of understanding how the periodicals of that period sought the insertion of women in the scientific and mathematical universe, as well as showing the role of this knowledge for the emancipation of women in Brazilian society at the end of the 19th century.
