Mytical narrative in communicational processes in non-consensual exhibition of women on the internet

Abstract

This paper analyzes the Adamic mythical narrative in communicational processes which women are threatened of having intimate contents exposed without consent on the internet. We argue that the Adamic myth goes back to axiological orders oriented to the construction of hegemonic thoughts about the experience of women in contemporary times, updated and ritualized, in order to maintain the mandate of masculinity. The analysis starts from ethnographic data, allowing us to understand that women, due to their intersectionalities, suffer sanctions sustained by mythical collective imaginaries. We show that the crime of non-consensual exposure on the internet escapes from the order of intimate, private and interpersonal relationships, to publicly and spectacularly communicate the territorial domain over women’s bodies. To this, we point out patriarchal communicational processes that translate into at least seven aspects.
