This paper was based on bibliography research and intends to reflect some basic aspects concerning the implementation of "Total Quality Management" in Health Care. The authors focused leadership role, indicators and assessment, cultural change, continuous quality improvement throughout the Institution, customer's satisfaction, employees* professional growth, education and training, correct use of statistics, costs and some unique characteristics of health care professionals as being key points to be understood in order to face this challenge, to overcome the roadblocks and succeed.
