Nutritive value of mixtures of bean flour and cassava meal. 1. Protein efficiency and growth-curse

Because the basic foods used in some regions of the country are beans and cassava meaL the author studied the nutritive value of mixtures of bean flour and cassava meal in rats. The proteic value of these mixtures was measured by the use of tests of growth-cure and protein efficiency ratio. The animals were fed ad libitum.

Results showed that a mixture of 25% of cassava meal and 75% of bean flour doesn't change significantly the growth-curse of the animals when compared to those fed with bean flour only, and that with a mixture of 50% each the rate of growth is significantly decreased.
