The main purpose of this paper is to discuss how viable is the application of nursing theories in practice.
The content is organized to the discussion flows from theories in general, so theories in nursing, to nursing theories. Next, the applicability of nursing theories is presented and the authors share some of their experiences with the application of theoretical or conceptual frameworks in the nursing care of individuals, families, groups or communities.
