Bonding and home care satisfaction among elderly people

This study aimed at analyzing the bond between workers and users of an elderly homecare service, as well as their satisfaction with the attention given to their needs. This qualitative and exploratory study was carried out from March through July of 2006 through interviews with 22 workers, five managers, and seven users as well as observation of the elderly homecare work in southern Brazil. The data was analyzed based on comprehension of homecare as a historical and dialectic substratum of healthcare work. The present study is characterized as being guided by the humanization of care in understanding relationships built on attention and respect, listening attitudes, dialogue, and time available for care. The facilities provided by an elderly homecare service are directly related to the guarantee of solutions for their health problems as well as safety provided them by the health workers.
