Problematizing perspective of popular education in health care and nursing

This text aims to reflect on popular education in health care, in the context of nursing education-care, using a critical and problematizing perspective. Principles of the educate-dialogue practice applied to health care pedagogy are addressed based on Paulo Freire’s philosophy, supporting the possibility for transforming nursing practice in this area. The application of Freire’s ideas to nursing education practice allows for the transformation of knowledge within a group who does not possess knowledge through scientific origins. At the same time as we appropriate ourselves of the knowledge from the universe of common sense. In this perspective, people have the opportunity to appoint and reflect on the vehicles of health education. The text calls attention to the fact that, without collective actions by nurses, shared with popular knowledge in the health education sphere, scientific knowledge will continue to be anachronistic and detached from the practical world.
