Tratamentos pré-germinativos em sementes de Faveira-orelha-de-macaco (Enterolobium schomburgkii Benth)

SUMMARY

Pre-germination treatments were tested with the objetive of to hasten and defining a methodology the germination of faveira-orelha-de-macaco (Enterolobim schomburgkii) seeds. The methods tested were: cutting - off the point on the side opposite the radicle, manual scarification, manual scarification followed by immersion in water for 24 hours, immerson in sulfuric acid for 2, 5, 10 and 20 minutes and immersion insodium hidroxide for 15 and 30 minutes.

The seeds used in the test werw collected from a tree located at INPA campus in Manaus. The germination tests werw carried out in the seed laboratory of the tropical Silviculture Department, in a Jacobsen germination room at 25o - 30oC.

The germinated seeds were counted daily during 14 days. Based of the results obtained, it was concluded that the best treatments to overcome the dormancy of "Faveira-orelha-de-macaco" were hand scarification and immersion in sulfuric acid after 5 minutes of exposition.
