The CDW recyclingactivity in Brazil started in the 80's, withweakgrowthuntiltheendofthe 90's. In 2002 therewerefew CDW recycling plants installed in thecountry. As ofthisyear, withthepublicationof CONAMA Resolution nº 307, a slightincrease in thegrowth rate ofthesefacilities was noticed. Withtheheatingofthesectorbetween 2007 and 2013 and theapprovaloftheBrazilian National Policy on Solid Waste (PNRS), therecyclingof CDW intensified. Even so, thedistributionof plants in the national territoryisquiteuneven, withthehighestconcentration in theSoutheastregion. Until 2008, only 3.6% ofthe CDW oftheentirecountry was recycled and in 2018, thisvalueincreasedto 45%.
