Methodology for urban-environmental cadaster of a new conservation unit: Floresta da Posse area of relevant ecological interest

This study presents a methodology involving surveys and vegetation index analysis. The chosen region was the newly established Conservation Unit called the Floresta da Posse Area of Relevant Ecological Interest. The ultimate goal was to integrate this region into the Multipurpose Land Cadaster of the City of Rio de Janeiro. The products generated included: inventory of existing cadastral bases and geospatial products; 2) topographic survey of boundaries and features of interest; 3) generation of a digital elevation model and contour lines; 4) processing of optical sensor images; and 5) integration of geospatial products into the Urban Information System of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (a component of the Multifunctional Land Registry). The results present not only the products obtained through various geotechnologies but also an analysis regarding their integration as a management and planning tool for Conservation Units in different scenarios.
