The ideal of totality as an illusion: the Freudian conception of science and the Romantic style

When examining the relationship between Freudian thought and the romantic tradition, it becomes evident that he can't be considered a Romantic thinker. Beside other reasons, because his conception of scientific knowledge is far from the ideals of harmony and totality that mark the romantic style.
