Gastrointestinal hemorrhage following intracranial operations

The incidence of esophageal, gastric and duodenal hemorrhages and acute ulcer in the postoperative period of intracranial operations has been known since 1846 (Rokitansky). In this article several theories suggested to explain the occurrence are commented. Two such cases are presented, where the author gives thoroughly report on the diagnosis and its treatment.
