This text values a rarely explored reading about the work of the Spanish artist José Pérez Ocaña. Instead of emphasizing the artist as a precursor of queer in Spain, this article focuses on the importance of Andalusia’s culture and religiosity in Ocaña’s work, especially its ritualistic elements, through which he questions gender and sexuality norms and religious rites.
