RESUMO Neste artigo, discutimos o conceito de filiação no quadro teórico-metodológico da Análise de Discurso, para analisarmos a relação entre o pensamento benvenistiano e o pensamento saussuriano como uma relação de filiação no interior da história das ideias que delimita o campo dos estudos da linguagem. A análise, que recortou formulações parafrásticas do Curso de linguística geral e dos Problemas de linguística geral, permitiu a compreensão dessa relação de filiação como diálogo, no qual se materializa uma relação paradoxal constitutiva que significa o movimento de aproximação e de deslocamento/destacamento do pensamento benvenistiano ao pensamento saussuriano. Essa compreensão mostrou que as diferentes maneiras de ler a relação Benveniste-Saussure, já historicizadas de algum modo no interior da história das ideias linguísticas, é da ordem do efeito da interpretação no jogo dos jogos da história da ciência.

ABSTRACT In this article, we discuss the concept of affiliation in the theoretical-methodological framework of Discourse Analysis to analyze the relationship between Benvenistian thought and Saussurian thought as a relationship of affiliation within the history of ideas that delimits the field of language studies. The analysis, which cuts out paraphrastic formulations from the Course in General Linguistics and Problems in General Linguistics, allowed the understanding of this affiliation relationship as a dialogue, in which a constitutive paradoxical relationship is materialized. This relationship signifies the movement of approximation and displacement/detachment of Benvenistian thought to Saussurian thought. This understanding showed that the different ways of reading the Benveniste-Saussure relationship, already historicized in some way within the history of linguistic ideas belongs to the order of the effect of interpretation in the dispute of the history of science games.

RESUMO Ferdinand de Saussure, Mikhail Bakhtin e Émile Benveniste, originários de diferentes países e continentes, coexistiram durante o século XX, deixando importante legado na história do pensamento linguístico, herança que continua a moldar e a influenciar as atuais discussões acadêmicas. Além de suas contribuições como linguistas e/ou filósofos da linguagem, outra característica comum os une: a dedicação ao ensino. Ao longo de suas carreiras, os três foram eminentemente professores. Este artigo explora as nuances biográficas que aproximam e distinguem essa tríade nos estudos linguísticos, em especial no que diz respeito à atuação docente, destacando características singulares que definiram suas trajetórias acadêmicas.

ABSTRACT Ferdinand de Saussure, Mikhail Bakhtin, and Émile Benveniste came from different countries and continents; these authors coexisted throughout the 20th century, leaving a significant legacy for linguistic thought-a heritage that continues to shape and influence contemporary academic discourse. Besides their roles as linguists and philosophers of language, another shared characteristic binds them together: their commitment to education. Throughout their careers, all three were dedicated educators. This article explores the biographical intricacies that unite and set apart this trio towards linguistic studies, especially in their pedagogical pursuits, emphasizing singular attributes that characterized their academic journeys.

RESUMO Neste artigo, objetivamos abordar aspectos ligados ao tratamento das línguas na elaboração teórica de dois linguistas: Ferdinand de Saussure e Émile Benveniste. Para isso, examinamos obras selecionadas dos autores, buscando, a partir de evidências, discutir o papel que eles concedem às línguas em suas teorizações. As análises permitem apontar para o protagonismo da diversidade das línguas como um dos pontos de encontro entre os dois linguistas, ainda que existam diferenças no modo de abordagem de cada um deles.

ABSTRACT With this article, we aim to address aspects related to the treatment of languages in the theoretical postulations of two linguists: Ferdinand de Saussure and Émile Benveniste. To do so, we examine selected works by these authors, seeking to discuss-based on evidence-the role they grant to languages in their formulations. The analyses allow us to demonstrate the protagonism of the diversity of languages as one of the points where the two linguists meet, even though there are differences in their approaches.

RESUMO Este artigo propõe uma leitura de Ferdinand de Saussure e Mikhail Bakhtin que busca colocá-los em relação não por um viés epistemológico, mas a partir de uma ideia de Henri Meschonnic, segundo a qual um autor pode estar ligado a outro sem que esteja explicitada referência de filiação entre eles. Para tanto, parte-se de um comentário, feito por Bakhtin, a propósito da tradução da obra de François Rabelais em russo, que é citado por Meschonnic no contexto de sua leitura antiestruturalista de Saussure. Finalmente, reflete-se sobre a pertinência de abordar comentários metalinguísticos que tematizam a condição do falante, o que pode configurar o objeto de uma teorização enunciativo-antropológica.

ABSTRACT This article proposes an interpretation of the ideas of Ferdinand de Saussure and Mikhail Bakhtin that seeks to relate them not through an epistemological point of view, but based on a concept proposed by Henri Meschonnic, according to which one author can be linked to another without an explicit reference to an affiliation between them. The starting point is a comment made by Bakhtin about the translation of François Rabelais’ work into Russian, which Meschonnic cites in his anti-structuralist interpretation of Saussure. Finally, a reflection is made on the relevance of addressing metalinguistic comments that discuss the condition of the speaker, which can be the object of an enunciative-anthropological theorization.

RESUMO Em diversas obras do Círculo (Bakhtin, Volóchinov, Medviédev), a referência a Saussure e/ou às especificidades da Linguística, enquanto ciência da língua, pode ser encontrada em diálogo, mais ou menos polêmico, entre pensadores e tendências epistemológicas, teóricas e metodológicas que propõem diferentes abordagens para a complexidade representada pela linguagem humana e, consequentemente, para seu estudo. Neste artigo, o objetivo é circunscrever e discutir a presença da Linguística, enquanto ciência da língua instaurada por Saussure, nos escritos de Mikhail Bakhtin. Após uma introdução, o texto se organiza em três seções, que tratam (1) de uma forte presença de Saussure nos escritos do Círculo; (2) do diálogo de Bakhtin com a ciência na unidade da cultura; (3) do diálogo com a ciência linguística da escola de Genebra em “O problema do conteúdo, do material e da forma”; e, finalmente, de considerações inconclusas, mas necessárias. Destacam-se importantes momentos-chave de reflexão em textos assinados por Bakhtin, em que Saussure (ainda que não nomeado, mas designado pela ciência por ele estabelecida) merece destaque, como contraponto científico-filosófico necessário para a constituição de outra possibilidade de compreensão e estudo da linguagem: a perspectiva dialógica. Como resultado, espera-se demonstrar que, desde os anos 1920, o diálogo Bakhtin/Saussure se estabelece, para distinguir e qualificar duas formas complementares de compreensão da linguagem e do lugar da ciência na unidade da cultura.

ABSTRACT In several works by the Circle (Bakhtin, Vološinov, Medvedev), the reference to Saussure and/or the specificities of Linguistics, as a science of language, can be found in a dialogue, more or less controversial, between thinkers and epistemological, theoretical and methodological trends that propose different approaches to the complexity represented by human language and, consequently, to its study. In this article, the objective is to circumscribe and discuss the presence of Linguistics, as a science of language established by Saussure, in the writings of Mikhail Bakhtin. After an introduction, the text is organized into three sections, which deal with (1) Saussure’s strong presence in the Circle’s writings; (2) Bakhtin’s dialogue with science in the unity of culture; (3) the dialogue with the linguistic science of the Geneva school in “PCMF”; and, finally, of inconclusive but necessary considerations. Important key moments of reflection stand out in texts signed by Bakhtin, in which Saussure (although not named, but designated by the science he established) deserves to be highlighted, as a necessary scientific-philosophical counterpoint for the constitution of another possibility of understanding and study of language: the dialogical perspective. As a result, it is expected to demonstrate that, since the 1920s, the Bakhtin/Saussure dialogue has been established to distinguish and qualify two complementary ways of understanding language and the place of science in the unity of culture.

RESUMO Este artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre a presença do tema aquisição da linguagem nos trabalhos de Ferdinand de Saussure, Mikhail Bakhtin e Émile Benveniste, para, a partir de tal reflexão, descrever como essa presença deu origem a perspectivas de trabalho em torno do tema no panorama de pesquisa do Brasil. Focalizam-se três grandes perspectivas de estudo de aquisição da linguagem no país: a partir de pressupostos saussureanos, têm-se os estudos sociointeracionistas; na vertente bakhtiniana, tem-se a abordagem dialógico-discursiva; na esteira benvenistiana, encontra-se a perspectiva aquisicional enunciativa. A reflexão apresenta um quadro resumitivo com a configuração de cada perspectiva derivada da sua filiação aos autores em questão.

ABSTRACT This article aims to reflect upon the presence of the language acquisition theme in the works of Ferdinand de Saussure, Mikhail Bakhtin and Émile Benveniste, in order to, based on such reflection, describe how this presence gave rise to work perspectives around the theme in research panorama in Brazil. Three major perspectives for studying language acquisition in the country are highlighted: based on Saussurean assumptions, there are the social interactionist studies; in the Bakhtinian perspective, the dialogic-discursive approach; from the Benveniste perspective, the enunciative acquisitional perspective. The reflection presents a summary table with the configuration of each perspective derived from its affiliation with the authors in question.
