Synthesis of chlorophylls and glycoalkaloids in mature potato tubers stored under natural light

In matute potato tubers of the cultivars Aracy (IAC-2), Bintje and Porta stored under natural light for 24 days the contents of protochlorophyll, chlorophylls a, b and total glycoalkaloids in the surface portion of the tubers were determined. The contents of such compounds were dependent of the cultivar, storage time as well as the interaction of these two variables. It was also verified that there were correlations between contents of chlorophylls and total glycoalkaloids. In this period the contents of chlorophylls and total glycoalkaloids as a function of storage time can be described by a logistic function, where the initial and final contents of these compounds are charactheristics for each cultivar, as well as are the constants of net synthesis of each compound.
