SUMMARY
A species of green leafhopper of the genus Empoasca is responsible for severe damage to snap and dry beans in the state of São Paulo. A spraying experiment was carried out with nine insecticides in a snap bean planting infested with a high population of the Empoasca leafhopper.
The results indicated that practically all the insecticides applied reduced the leafhopper population considerably after two applications. Some were satisfactory after a single application.
