This paper discusses Mariza Corrêa’s works on the history of anthropology in Brazil. We look at the wider and more persistent areas of interest of her reflections. The paper is especially attentive to the formation and institutional development of the discipline in Brazil and the gender inflections in the practice and writing of the history of Brazilian anthropology
