Educação, participação, urbanização: uma contribuição à análise histórica das propostas institucionais para as favelas do Rio de Janeiro, 1941-1980

Abstract

For almost half a century, governmental and religious institutions have been implementing technical-administrative and educational programs in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. An analysis of these programs demonstrates that, although the historical contexts may vary, there is a striking similarity in the way these institutions view themselves and their relations with the favela populations. The analysis is developed utilizing categories such as urbanization, participation, responsability, moral and citizenship.
