Este estudo analisa a semântica dos seguintes marcadores de evidência da língua espanhola: claro, desde luego, naturalmente e por supuesto. A partir da análise de enunciados reais, demonstra-se que a estrutura semântica de tais marcadores compõe-se de uma série de instruções para especificar o sentido do enunciado, em que são utilizados, com relação a um elemento central da base de conceituação ('Ground'): a intersubjetividade. Sustenta-se, ainda, que os efeitos de argumentativos que esses elementos produzem na conexão entre enunciados (os chamados efeitos argumentativos) derivam da mencionada função especificadora.

In this paper, we analyze the semantics of the following evidentiality markers in Spanish: claro, desde luego, naturalmente and por supuesto. Based on the analysis of real utterances, we show that the semantic structure of these markers consists of a series of instructions to specify the meaning of the utterance in which they occur, with respect to an essential element of the conceptualization base (the ground): intersubjectivity. We further argue that the meaning effects that these elements provoke in the connection between utterances (the so-called argumentative effects) are derived from this specifying function.

Este trabalho tem a intenção de estender e elaborar a linha de pesquisa iniciada por Pesetsky e Torrego (2001, 2004) sobre o papel de Tempo como condição de licenciamento de extração de sintagmas. No contexto de elevação de CP, re-interpreta alguns exemplos de movimento de T para C não como possuindo um efeito de licenciamento, mas como um efeito de bloqueio sobre o extracção do CP. Então movimento de T para C é analisado como parte integrante de um ciclo operacional de saturação gradual que compreende o movimento da cabeça, bem como acordo entre cabeças. Este paradigma estendido é analisado como vários graus de completude operacional, correponding a graus de "especificação". Dentro dessa hierarquia operacional da especificação de traços reside o mecanismo que "abre" ou "fecha" o caminho para a aplicação de movimento sintático de sintagmas. Baseando-se em dados de Inglês do Belfast, observa-se que a variação dialetal ocorre em pontos que se encontram abaixo na hierarquia, em outras palavras, em um ponto derivacional de "sub-especificação" operacional.

This paper intends to extend and elaborate the line of research initiated by Pesetsky and Torrego (2001, 2004) on the role of Tense as a licensing condition over phrasal extraction. In the context of the operation of CP-raising, it re-interprets some instances of T-to-C movement as having not a licensing but a blocking effect over CP-extraction. T-to-C Movement then is analysed as part of an integral operational cycle of gradual saturation comprizing head movement as well as head-agreement. This extended paradigm is analyzed as various degrees of operational completeness, correponding to degrees of "specificity". Within this operational hierarchy of featural specificity resides the mechanism that "opens" or "closes" the syntactic path for phrasal movement to apply. Drawing on data from Belfast English, it is observed that dialectal variation takes place on particular points that lie lower in this hierarchy, in other words at a derivational point of operational "under-specification".

Este artigo analisa performances identitárias de raça encenadas nos textos produzidos por negras em uma comunidade da Orkut. O estudo se embasa em concepções sobre os novos letramentos digitais e em Teorias Queer. Os dados foram gerados em uma comunidade da Orkut que discute temas sobre a população negra. Foram analisadas mensagens de um fórum para mulheres negras brasileiras. O arcabouço analítico é constituído pelos construtos alinhamento e enquadre, propostos por Goffman ([1979], 1998). Os resultados indicam que as performances identitárias das participantes são permeadas por sexualidade, gênero, raça, classe social e oscilam entre uma postura queer e performances essencializadas.

Abstract in English:

This article aims at analysing racial identity performances enacted in texts produced by black heterosexual women in a community of black people at Orkut. This study is based on new digital literacy and queer theories. We analyzed messages in a forum specifically geared towards Brazilian black women. The analytical framework is derived from Goffman's concepts of footing and frame. The results indicate that participants' identity performances are permeated by sexuality, gender, race and social class oscilating between a queer position and essencialized performances.

Neste artigo exploramos a relação entre a linguagem de avaliação e o uso de recursos paralinguísticos da leitura em voz alta, relacionando as categorias de appraisal (valoração) de Eggins e Slade com a taxonomia dos recursos paralinguísticos. Com esse intuito, nos concentramos em duas categorias de valoração: o afeto, que é a expressão dos estados emocionais, e (2) a amplificação, que é a expressão em voz alta das atitudes e emoções do leitor. Para isso, apresentamos a análise de um excerto de The Story of Tilly, uma belíssima estória para crianças lida em voz alta por Jackie Torrence. Entendemos que essa associação entre características paralinguísticas e appraisal pode constituir um campo fonológico para a descrição da linguagem de avaliação para além do nível lexico-gramatical.

In this paper we explore the relationship between the language of evaluation and the use of paralinguistic features in reading aloud, relating Eggins & Slade's (1997) categories of appraisal with Brown's (1990) taxonomy of paralinguistic features. We mainly concentrate on two categories of appraisal: (1) affect, that is the expression of emotional states, and (2) amplification, that is the reader's aloud grading of attitudes and emotions. We present an analysis of part of The Story of Tilly, a story for children beautifully read aloud by Jackie Torrence. It seems to us that this association between paralinguistic features and appraisal may constitute a phonological domain for the description of the language of evaluation beyond the lexico-grammatical level.

Este trabalho objetiva apresentar os processos/mecanismos que caracterizam a emergência dos diferentes usos da expressão É QUE, correlacionando as metafunções da linguagem com o seu percurso de mudança linguística via gramaticalização. Esta investigação analisa, diacronicamente, dados amostrais de textos escritos do Português do século XII ao XX. Os resultados empíricos parecem comprovar a hipótese da trajetória unidirecional Objeto/Espaço > Texto, resultantes da reanálise do uso original trecentista de é o que em É QUE. Em relação às metafunções da linguagem, o percurso de mudança do significado é: Ideacional (concreto) > Textual (textual-discursivo) > interpessoal (epistêmico).

Abstract in English:

This paper aims at presenting the processes/mechanisms which characterize the emergence of different uses of the expression "É QUE", correlating its path linguistic change via grammaticalization of language metafunctions. This investigation diachronically analyses sampling data of written texts in Portuguese from the Twelfth to the Twentieth Century. The empirical results seem to prove the unidirectional trajectory Object/Space > Text hypothesis, resulting from the reanalysis of the original Fourteenth-century use of "é o que" to "É QUE". In terms of the language metafunctions, the trajectory of change in meaning is: Ideational (concrete) > Textual (discursive textual) > Interperson al (epistemic).

Este artigo analisa o fenômeno da Autocitação Factiva e Fictiva sob a ótica perspectivação conceptual ou construal, tendo em vista trabalhos de Talmy (1996, 2000), Langacker (1999, 2008), Verhagen (2005, 2007) e Rocha (2006a e b, 2010). Com base em dados extraídos de corpora em Português Brasileiro e Europeu para fins exclusivamente qualitativos, postula-se que o discurso direto, em forma de autocitação, dispõe de instâncias factivas de seus tipos comunicativos como diametralmente opostas, mas contíguas, às suas instâncias fictivas, gerenciadas por operações de construal ora mais subjetificantes, ora mais objetificantes.

This paper analyzes the phenomenon of factive and fictive selfquotation in terms of construal operations according to Talmy (1996, 2000), Langacker (1999, 2008), Verhagen (2005, 2007), and Rocha (2006a e b, 2010). Based on data extracted from Brazilian and European Portuguese corpora for qualitative purposes, the selfquotation frame of direct speech shows factive instances of their communicative types as diametrically opposed, but contiguous, to its fictive instances. In a continuum, these instances are respectively managed by objective or subjective construal operations.

Problematiza-se nesta pesquisa os gêneros relatório e artigo científico escritos por 4 estudantes- estagiários na disciplina Prática de Ensino de Biologia, tomando-se as funções enunciativas locutor, enunciador e autor, conforme explicitadas por Orlandi (2003). Considera-se o locutor aquele que se representa como 'eu' no discurso; o enunciador é o que representa as 'perspectivas que o eu assume' no discurso e autor, quando se assume enquanto 'produtor' da linguagem, portanto afetado pelo contato com o social e suas coerções. A análise dos textos escritos aponta que tais gêneros não contribuíram expressivamente para manifestações subjetivas do ser e estar professor, por conta disso propõe-se a escrita de textos que levem o autor a se identificar com aquilo que escreve deixando ali suas marcas subjetivas.

This paper discusses reports and articles produced by 4 students in a Biology training course in teacher training course. It analises the enunciative functions of the speaker, the enunciator, and author, according to Orlandi (2003). The Speaker is represented as "I"; the enunciator represents the "perspectives that the I take on" and the author, when the student takes the role of the "producer" of the language, therefore affected by the contact with the social context and its coercions. The analysis of the texts shows that such genres did not contribute expressively to subjective manifestations of the self and being of the teacher. We therefore suggest the writer leaves identity marks in his writting.

No que se refere às fontes historiográficas, sabe-se que, em princípio, as de natureza documental são de grande utilidade para esclarecimento e interpretação dos fatos, dada a presunção de confiabilidade de que desfrutam como documento histórico. Hoje, contudo, cresce significativamente a relevância das fontes informais, tais como as cartas, os diários, os bilhetes familiares e outras dessa natureza, assim como as fontes orais, cuja importância como documento histórico deve ser reavaliada. Este texto trata em especial da fontes historiográficas orais no campo da Historiografia da Linguística, bem como de sua utilização em projetos de pesquisa contemporâneos que se dedicam ao estudo e análise do percurso do saber linguístico no Brasil.

Regarding historiographical sources, it is known that, in principle, the documentary sources are of greater suitability for the unveiling and interpreting the facts, given its presumption of trustworthiness as a historical document. Nevertheless, nowadays the relevance of the so-called informal sources, such as private letters, diaries, family notes and many others of this nature, is increasing substancially, as well as the oral sources, whose importance as historical document must be reassessed. This text treats especially the oral sources in the field of Linguistic Historiography, as well as its use in contemporary research projects dedicated to the study and analysis of the linguistic knowledge building in Brazil.
