Quality in corn sowing

The objective of this study was to establish quality standards for corn sowing. Therefore, during five growing seasons, it was assessed corn sowing within 30 farms from Campos Gerais, Paraná State, Brazil, which has approximately 13,500 ha and 64 seeders/fertilizer spreader. Fertilizer dosage and emerged plant variation between rows, initial and final corn stand, longitudinal plant distribution and crop yield. It was concluded that variations lower than 5% m occur in fertilizer dosage of the seeder/fertilizer rows, number of emerged plants, flawed and multiple spacing. It is recommended to adopt as acceptable row spacing above 90% for corn sowing. The highest crop yields were reached for plant stands with 71,400 corn ears.
