FAIR principles, information findability and data: towards a theoretical dialogue and a practical application

ABSTRACT

Objective:

It uses essays to achieve the objective of investigating the relationship between the FAIR Principles and findability, considering studies to maximize the use and reuse of scientific data through the FAIR Principles.

Methods:

It is configured as a qualitative approach, of a pure nature. As for the objective, it is exploratory.

Results:

It results in the understanding that the studies of FAIR and findability principles can dialogue as complementary means of data management; studies on findability can expand the FAIR principles by targeting the subject, an actor in the data findability process. It also presents the FairDataBr+ tool that evaluates datasets expanding the FAIR standard with findability issues.

Conclusions:

It concludes that the research that relate these studies are still incipient, which, in this way, allow ample possibilities of investigation in the field of Information Science, while the adequate management of data sets, the data themselves and the metadata, through principles of FAIR and findability, contributes to the optimization of information services.
