Legal data from the perspective of Information Science: concept and typology with a view to the 2030 Agenda

ABSTRACT

Objective:

To propose a concept and typology for legal data with a view to the 2030 Agenda.

Methods:

The investigation is exploratory to fill the gaps that exist regarding the concept and characterization of legal data. It is applied in the legal context that is the core of legal information. A qualitative approach is adopted to describe the typology of these data, based on a pre-existing model.

Results:

Presents a structure in eight categories with an original typology for characterizing the classes of legal data.

Conclusions:

The concept and typology proposed for legal data bring contributions, both to the field of Information Science and to the field of Law, regarding the analysis of the classes that involve the management, use and reuse of these data, and make it possible to determine the metrics intended for the Goals of the 2030 Agenda, providing justice that moves towards sustainable legal information.
