Trends in scientific productions put forward in Research Meetings about Environmental Education (EPEA)

This paper aims at describing and analyzing the scientific production put forward in four Research Meetings about Environmental Education (EPEA) ran from 2001 to 2007. The 303 comprehensive works were studied on the following criteria: author; involved institution; educational level; knowledge area; thematic focus. The results show: a) strong inter-regional production imbalance, having the highest concentration in the Southeast-South region (83%); b) the authorship predominance from institutions promoting the Meetings - UNESP, USP and UFSCar; c) strong interest within formal school issues - 77%; d) predominance of researches which map and approach Citizens Characteristics and Conceptions - 33%, Theoretical and Curricular Foundation - 29%, Contents and Methods - 10%. The paper also presents important elements to reflect upon the research on Environmental Education and the potential of EPEAs for the development of this research field in the country.
