Nihilism and allegory in Adriano Scandolara's Lira de lixo

ABSTRACT

In Lira de Lixo , Adriano Scandolara poetically elaborates a typical social experience of modernity related to life in a large urban center (in this case, 21st century Curitiba). Such experience can be perceived not only in the theme developed in his poems as well as in the formal determinants of his poetry. Therefore, it brings together a nihilistic view of existence which rejects life and history as units of meaning, with a fragmented way (allegorical) which breaks with the classical notion of the organic work of art. The analysis proceeds in order to stimulate the dialogue between the poetry of Scandolara and the thought of Walter Benjamin concerning modern life and its expression in the field of arts.
