The purpose of this study is to introduce the question of gender in the Psychology of Rio Grande do Norte (Northeast of Brazil). Preliminary data are presented about the unbalanced distribution of male and female in the Psychology course, as compared to a relatively balanced situation of the other courses of the FURN. The variable gender is also discussed with the contexto of other variables characteristic ot the professional practice of psychologists in the state.
