DEMOCRATIC EDUCATION AND ALTERITY: POLITICAL AND ETHICAL REPLIES TO THE METAPHYSIC OF ECONOMICS

ABSTRACT

As the result of a bibliographical research in the Amartya Sen’s theoretical perspective, this essay aimed to identify democracy and alterity as a political and ethical response to the metaphysics of economy. According to a philosophical perspective, it was theorized about democracy as privileged space for the promotion of instrumental freedoms and the substantive freedom, as well as the alterity perspective regarding the plural grounding and not the maximization of self-interest. The education was defended much more than a social opportunity, being the act of constitute the behavior of infinity inside of a finite historical horizon. It was also defended the turning that education needs to take in the direction of the existential sphere, as formation for co-responsibility for belonging to a common world.
