“Interrupted” interview: remote work, affectivity and meanings of childhood in the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic changed production routines in several areas, and also in journalism, as reporters and editors began to work from home, interviewing people who were in the same conditions. In some television recordings, children of professionals who were being heard interviewed interfered in the scene, disrupting the “façade” (GOFFMAN, 2006) which was expected from the subjects involved in that communication situation. Some of these cases were reported by the UOL portal, provoking the public’s reaction through comments. In this work, we seek to understand the meanings about of childhood that can be perceived in these messages, based on the demands established by the so-called “affective capitalism” (ILLOUZ, 2011).
