Departing from the painting La trahison des images (Ceci n'est pas une pipe), by René Magritte, this paper intends to comment the relationships between art and reality. Aiming this objective, I will try to interpret the work of the Belgian painter according to Heidegger's essay on "The Origin of the work of art", and also reviewing some of the results of the analysis made by Michel Foulcault in his book, along with some thoughts of Arthur Danto.
