“This Dream is the Life of Our Planet”: Towards a Rapprochement Between Art, Life, and Anthropology Through Metamorphosis

Abstract

The present essay is an attempt to outline the possibilities of convergences between art, life, and anthropology through Emanuele Coccia’s newly released book, Metamorfoses. My proposal is to comment upon this book by offering an overview of the main concepts presetnin the metamorphic path presented by Coccia, whose arguments interlace both art and life following a spiral conducted by the concept of metamorphosis. As I intend to show, tracing a dialogue between Coccia and anthropology can help us to think of new anthropological approaches towards life as it runs through art, especially if we think of art as a vital and sensational experience.
