IN PRIVATE RECREATION, IN PUBLIC EDUCATION: THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBJECTS RELATED TO LEISURE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION COURSES

Abstract

The objective of this article was to characterize the subjects related to leisure in Physical Education courses in private and public institutions. Mixed methodology and the Category Analysis technique were used. In conclusion, leisure-related subjects occupy more space in public institutions compared to private ones and do not have a specific semester location within these curricula. Regarding the themes, subjects in private institutions are mainly related to recreation and in public ones to education. On the other hand, the approaches are similar in private and public institutions and the disciplines mainly value the focus on the history, theory or concept of leisure. About the bibliographies, the most verified work is “Introdução ao Lazer” by Victor Andrade Melo and Edmundo Drummond Alves Júnior and the most cited author is Nelson Carvalho de Marcellino.
