Associations and Political Regimes in Porto Alegre (1946-88): Pursuing an Analysis of Socio-State Relations

ABSTRACT

In this work we aim to analyze the relations established between associations and political regimes in the city of Porto Alegre, from 1946 to 1988, through the laws and decrees granting aid, exemptions and public utility bonds. We conclude that there was a growth in the socio-state relations, a change in the pattern of established contacts, followed by attempts at greater regulation, evidenced by the growth of legislation on the subject.
