Fernando Henrique Cardoso in the United States of America: The Work of a Scholar, a Scholar as Work

ABSTRACT

The chances of transnational success for a peripheral scholar are slim, so the cases that escape this trend, such as Fernando Henrique Cardoso, give food for thought. Contrary to a naive view of his trajectory, this article adresses his efforts to be translated and read, amidst the dispute over the reception of dependentism in us, were central to his apotheotic culmination.
