This text examines the notion of "para-economy" developed by Guerreiro Ramos as an important analysis category to make a critical deconstruction of the principal basis of the conventional theory of organizations. The text draws attention to the originality of the author through rich sources of influence mobilized into the construction of this concept. However, the main objective of the work is to show the contemporary nature of this proposition both because of its close relationship with some of the main current concerns of research into economic sociology and economic anthropology and because of its implications for the renewal of current debate about the issue of local development. The text concludes articulating the concept of "para-economy" with the notion of plural economy, indicating new lines of research and public intervention following the critical ideas in terms of society project.
