Studies on "Information and Knowledge Management" and "Labor" in the PPGCI: origins, trajectory and future perspectives

Abstract

This article presents an overview of the researches that have been devoted to the study on the themes of Management and Labour within the scope of the PPGCI / UFMG, on here subdivided into two subfields, namely: Information and Knowledge Management and Information and Labor Relations in the fields of Culture and Information. With regard to Information and Knowledge Management, a critical reading of the perspective from which the area has been addressed within the scope of the PPGCI has been developed and future research and perspectives were pointed out. This analysis alerts to the fact that there is still a significant gap in the studies developed related to the subjective human dimension of the management process. It is considered of utmost importance to focus on people, more specifically, on the behavioral, cognitive, symbolic and affective aspects in their interaction with the organizational, political and work processes. The Subfield of Information Units Management and Labor Relations in the areas of Culture and Information has a substantive part of its studies focused on observation and analysis on essential themes in the contemporary context: the occupation of jobs in information units and the like; in the interaction between the social and economic demands of the occupation of these jobs and the vocational training systems, as well as their answers to satisfy the mentioned requirements, besides focusing on the historical, political and economic environment that permeate these relations. This article presents, as a product of this analysis, a proposal for a management and labor approach, in the context of the PPGCI, for the coming years.
