Possibilities of acting for the licensee in Psychology in Etecs

This paper presents a survey of a possible field of work for psychology graduates in the technical state schools of São Paulo, seeking to demonstrate the existence of this field and to debate on it. We start the text putting in historic perspective and contextualizing teaching psychology in high school professional education. Later we present the construction process of the data, which consisted of gathering and organizing information available on the official websites of Paula Souza Center, identifying in which disciplines and courses the licensee in psychology can teach classes in Etecs and how representative are these courses on the state's public technical education network. The results point to a wide range of possible work for a psychology teacher, such as the technical courses in Management, Marketing and Safety, and its absence in the technical course in Nursing. They urge further questions about the objectives and the contributions of psychological knowledge addressed in the Etecs and the factors that determine their presence in this context, and point to the need that psychology professionals encourage discussion about psychology teacher education in order to consider the contributions that the teaching of psychology can bring to the high school professional.
