A look at the love in the occident

To understand the loving experience as a modified event by the different historical arrangements, lead us to consider different conceptions of love. This article detaches hegemonic love conceptions at the Western society, since the classics until nowadays, having as central objective to investigate in the Sartre and Beauvoir's works an existencialist theory of love. This was a bibliographical research whose sources show a portrait of the history of the love at the Western, as well as the workmanships of Sartre and Beauvoir. As result we can to detach the existencialist analysis regarding the different hegemonic loving conceptions characterizing them as suppliers of experiences which can be called sado-masochists and not satisfactory. On the other hand, we could perceive the proposal of the authors for an understanding of love and loving relationship from concepts of the existencialism as project of being, common project, reciprocity, compromise and freedom.
