The motivation for learning German at a Center for Language Studies (CLS)

Abstract

The student´s motivation is identified as central to a satisfactory learning process and, for this reason, many teachers are constantly engaged in improving their practices. In this work we aim to shed light on a multiliteracies project, which involved the production of a video clip and aimed to increase motivation of German students in a Language Study Center at a public school in the State of São Paulo. To support our reflections, we sought theoretical support primarily on the concepts of motivation (DÖRNYEI 1994, 2001, 2014; VALLERAND 1997 and others) and multiliteracies (ROJO 2012, 2013). The research, of a qualitative nature, was developed from data collected with secondary and high school students in a Language Study Centre in the State of São Paulo during 2015. The results show the great impact of multiliteracies projects in student´s motivation.
