Open-access Training in integrative community therapy: Challenges and overcoming prejudices

This article discusses the challenges and overcoming prejudices in the training process for integrative community therapists. It presents the partial results of a study that analyzed the transformations experienced by integrative community therapists and the consequent changes in their professional practice. This descriptive, exploratory, qualitative study involved the participation of ten integrative community therapists working in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The results highlighted that Integrative Community Therapy (ICT) produces creative potential for reconstruction, confronting challenges, and overcoming prejudices in various professional contexts. The conclusion is that the practice enables integrative community therapists to become agents of transformation, both within ICT circles and in building a more inclusive and humane society, through an integrated approach that combines internal reflection, educational actions, social change, and overcoming challenges and prejudices.
