Analysis of Brazilian studies, in the field of Collective Health, on racism and psychic suffering

Abstract

This article aims to analyze how the relationship between a social fact - racism - and an experience marked by the overlapping of singular and collective aspects of subjective experiences – suffering - has been approached in the field of Collective Health. The method consisted of a literature review on the subject, based on a qualitative approach. The studies were searched on the Lilacs and Scielo platforms, and 12 articles were analyzed. The revised material was studied using the content analysis technique. Discussion of the results was centered on three categories of analysis: (1) Racism, psychological harm and care; (2) Public policies - health and care; and (3) Afrocentricity.
