Paulo Freire and popular Nationalisms: The reception of his work in Argentina

Abstract

This paper is part of a larger one on the reception of Paulo Freire’s work in Argentina. Pedagogy of the Opressed arrived early in our country and had an enthusiastic reception and political- pedagogical influence, not only in the field of education but also and especially among trade unions, political and religious militants who embraced the banners of liberation of the “Third World”. In this text we intend to show the core of thematic coincidences that exist between the Freire’s work prior to Pedagogy of the Opressed and the core of political pedagogical issues developed by popular Nationalisms in Argentina, which mainly converge in a front led by the Peronist movement.
