FANONIAN SOCIOGENY AND TRAINING IN PSYCHOLOGY: A POLITICAL AND BLACK CLINICAL BID

Abstract

In 2020, we received the Brazilian translation of the book Écrits sur l´aliénation et la liberté (Alienation and freedom), by Frantz Fanon. Combined with other works such as Black skin, white masks and The wretched of the earth, the book presents sociogeny as an essential condition for understanding black lives in their relationship with physical and psychological suffering and the possibility of a clinical practice that is not based solely on the phylogenetic and ontogenetic dimension mental and physical states. Starting from Fanonian sociogeny as a principle and method, this paper aims to reflect on the possibility of building a training process in Psychology that takes the sociogenic dimension as a vital space so that care can be thought of in relation to black communities in different Brazilian contexts. We defend the urgent need for training and praxis in Psychology to assume the discussion of Fanonian sociogenesis as essential.
