Configuring identity of Colombian guerrilla deserters

The research explores the context of the armed conflict in Colombia among guerrilla organizations, paramilitary and governmental forces, a context in which a program to stimulate the voluntary demobilization of people involved with illegal armed groups is working. The study aims to comprehend in which ways the identity of young people that desert the guerrilla is configurated. The epistemological-theoretical framework was constructionist social psychology. The research's general design was qualitative, with an interpretive methodological focus. The techniques of data production were in-depth interviews and discussion groups. The data were analyzed with the support of Atlas-ti software for qualitative data analysis. The results allowed us to comprehend the changes in the identity through five dimensions: the body, the name, human relationships, self-consciousness and memory.
