Sacrosanctum Concilium and the Sacraments

ABSTRACT

In the sacramentality of ritual action, a manifestation of the action of Christ and the action of the Church, people glorify God and sanctify themselves. Faithful to Tradition, the Second Vatican Council revised, adapted and restored the practice of the sacraments by rediscovering the theology of the liturgy. With this reflection we want to contextualize Vatican II’s understanding of the theology of the sacraments. The main aim of the Council was to show that the liturgical celebration is an experience of community and of encounter with God in the rites and prayers of the celebration. It is in the rite that is celebrated and participated in that a profound and complex intelligence of mystery is realized.
