LA TEOLOGÍA CONDICIONAL Y EL “CUIDADO DE LA CASA COMÚN”

ABSTRACT

Conditional theology and God’s grace have been relevant topics in the history of Christianity, leading to a transformation in the understanding of redemptive action. The tension between the promise of a chosen people and the universal condition coming from the proclaimed faith has generated a double understanding of the meaning of grace, and has led to a debate among Christians regarding whether God’s grace is unconditional or conditional. Conditional theology recognizes human responsibility and solidarity with the world as integral elements of being created and redeemed. Creation and redemption are closely linked, and every moment of creation is an opportunity for redemption. Continuous creation, framed in conditional theology, opens a dialogue with culture, and assumes ecological responsibility and care for the common home. The integral and committed approach to the challenges of the present time is fundamental for living according to Christian principles. Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti are examples of conditional theology that emphasize the importance of care of the environmental and promotion of social justice to create a more inclusive society.
