The Use of Free Time Among Working-Class Youth

ABSTRACT

This quantitative study investigated aspects related to working-class youth’s free time. A total of 291 high school students from public schools in Vitória, ES, aged 15 to 19 years (M = 16.3; SD = 1.09), participated in the survey (53.3% girls). Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS software. The results mainly indicated different factors involved in how these young people used their free time, which were related not only to income, but also to aspects such as gender, environment where they lived, lifestyles, and groups they belonged to.
