The dynamics of managerial learning in a hospital

Since in Brazil managerial learning research is incipient, this paper presents the findings of a case study conducted with the objective of comprehend the managerial learning process in a hospital. Following qualitative research orientations, especially from Grounded Theory, eight categories emerged from data analysis: learning context, feelings related to learning, learning contends, learning ways, factors that make the learning process easier, factors that make the learning process harder, learning outcomes and recommendations. The study concluded that managerial learning: transcends the formal and informal classification; it is not restrict to the instrumental domain of knowledge; it is influenced by the organizational and social context; and it can occur by changes in awareness.
