Open-access Effects of social media use on archery performance

This study investigated the effect of social media use on inducing mental fatigue (MF) in the performance of experienced archers in simulated competition. Ten participants took part in a crossover protocol. MF was induced through social media use for 45 minutes; performance was assessed using scores and psychological states via the Brunel Mood Scale and visual analog scales. There were no significant differences in performance or psychological states between the groups. It is concluded that social media use for 45 minutes before an archery competition did not affect the athletes' performance qualities, although a trend towards increased psychological variables could be identified in both groups.
