STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING CLINICAL SPECIALTIES TO MEDICAL STUDENTS: ANESTHESIOLOGY

A systematic process for organizing an undergraduate course for medical spe­ cialties is described and offered as a model. The model permits the instructor to develop his course, its levei of difficulty and contents according to the capacity, experience and needs of the individual student.

The use of this model for developing a course in Anesthesiology is detailed. Of special note is the manner in which thc course objectives are specificaly drawn from the national aims of integrating knowledge and skills from each arca in order to obtain general practitioners of family physicians.

Decisions based on the outcomes of the evaluation sub-process permit reformulation of objectives or formulation of new ones providing an on-going adjustment for adequacy.
