Contributions of Frantz Fanon and Stuart Hall to the field of education

This is a theoretical study of exploratory nature drawing on the works of Frantz Fanon and Stuart Hall to reflect upon issues regarding education. The intention is to discuss issues related to the intersection of education, culture, and identity formation, based on the theoretical contributions of Frantz Fanon and Stuart Hall. Furthermore, it was considered that the potential of this writing lies, above all, in the potential for these thinkers’ ideas to spark discussions about education, as they have developed arguments on topics such as national culture, identity and knowledge. Methodologically, we analyzed several works by Fanon and Hall relying on insights from the field of postcolonial studies. Regarding the results, we present theoretical notions grounded in the authors’ seminal works, in dialogue with the field of education, through an engagement with certain ideas of Paulo Freire. Thus, revealing important contributions for the educational field, within a context that encompassed the history of exploitation, colonialism and inequalities among the various groups that make up Brazilian society.
